Paradise Christian School is a federally funded preschool, which provides services to 220 children from the age 1 to 5 years old. The nutrition and health coordinator struggled with typed reports up to date. Children with allergies and or specific food and nutrition needs must have their information constantly kept up to date as it could cause extreme danger to the child's health. The coordinator used to type several reports, including the classroom report, the kitchen report and the therapist report. All these reports are linked and by typing everything it was time consuming and inaccurate and hard to track. The solution came with FileMaker, by creating a database that holds the children’s information and with the touch of a button the system generates over 10 different reports. Whenever the nutritional needs have been updated, with a click a new kitchen meal report is generated. All the reports are always up to date and are created instantly whereas they had to be typed up in several documents. This increased the work efficiency by ten fold and the information accuracy. The system even included specific cover sheets which included instructions for each report.
Quality Wiring at the time was a small business wiring company with 3 service trucks. When this company won the bid to service Miami-Dade County Public School and Miami-Dade County College it became a big deal. All service tickets were written by hand and Miami-Dade County procurement service wanted confirmation of the service request and billing must also include the service request information. Quality Wiring at the time wanted to hire 3 additional office staff just to write and respond to tickets for the Miami-Dade Procurement Department. A FileMaker system was implemented in the office and the system would write the ticket for the service technician and send a confirmation email to the County. Once the ticket was completed the ticket and invoice was scanned into the system and an email was sent to the County finance department to request payment. All tickets could be tracked in the system for each jobsite or each incident request. This system has led the company to grow without changing their management system, currently this company has over 23 service trucks and services Miami Dade Schools, College, Parks and other departments.
East Coast Metals is a leader in manufacturing roof tile products. Creating price lists and product catalogs was a time consuming job. At the time they used a spreadsheet program to create the different price lists and product catalogs. By implementing FileMaker product photos and descriptions were added to the system and the system could create catalogs by categories or filtered information and even product datasheets that contained product specification, approval information, safety handling information and patent information.
